Underground Railroad Adventure

Although the Lathrop House B&B in Springfield, Massachusetts was built in 1899 after the Civil War, it's location is perfect for visiting the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center in Hartford Ct. A tour of the Stowe House provides an intimate glimpse into the life of the author of Uncle Tom's Cabin. Also only a half hour away is the Connecticut Freedom Trail, a tour of buildings reported to have been used on the Underground Railroad, sites associated with the Amistad case of 1839-1842, and gravesites, monuments, homes, and other structures that represent the concept of freedom so cherished in the American mind. In celebration of Black History Month, The Lathrop House B&B offers a second night or second room free for February, 2008 bookings, as well as a 20 per cent discount throughout 2008 to all two-night or longer stay visitors who include one of these historic sites in their travel plans. We'll love your pet almost as much as you do! Just be sure your dog doesn't bark and is never alone in the room, is on a leash when going through the house, has his poop scooped on glorious walks through our garden or historic neighborhood, and that you have food for your pets. A $25 charge per Fido or Puss per night applies.

Six Flags New England puts on a great show for Halloween, and it's just ten minutes away! Or help us carve a pumpkin and give our sweets to the procession of ghosts and goblins that appear at our door, then take in an adult party in town or take your own kids trick or treating in our historic neighborhood. Sorry, we can't give a discount at this time of year, our busiest because the leaves are in all their glory...
